Costco, the popular wholesale retail giant, has recently announced recalls for three more items, adding to a growing list of product recalls.
These recalls affect a range of products, emphasizing the importance of safety and quality control in consumer goods.
1. Kirkland Signature Master Carve Half Ham
The first item on the recall list is the Kirkland Signature Master Carve Half Ham. The supplier, Sunnyvalley Smoked Meats Inc., issued a notice on September 29, 2023, warning that the product might be contaminated with listeria, a bacterium that can cause foodborne illness.
This recall affects hams sold in California’s Bay Area and western Nevada, specifically those with a “Use/Freeze By” date of January 20, 2024, and a lot number of 264 – 4. Customers who purchased the affected hams can return them to their local Costco for a full refund.
2. Orgain Organic Protein & Superfoods Powder
The second recalled item is the Orgain Organic Protein & Superfoods Powder, specifically the Creamy Chocolate Fudge with Probiotics variety.
Orgain, the nutrition product company, discovered the presence of sesame in the powder, an ingredient not listed on the label. Sesame is recognized as an allergen and poses a risk to individuals with allergies or sensitivities to it.
The recall includes only specific lot codes and expiration dates. Customers in possession of the recalled product can return it to Costco for a full refund or contact Orgain for further assistance.
3. Rainbow Road Book Box
Finally, the third item on the recall list is the Rainbow Road Book Box by the children’s book company Make Believe Ideas. The recall, issued on September 21, 2023, was prompted by reports of plastic binding rings detaching from some books, posing a potential choking hazard for children.
Though no injuries or choking incidents have been reported, customers who purchased this item can return it to Costco for a refund or contact Make Believe Ideas for a virtual prepaid card as part of the recall process.
These recent recalls by Costco highlight the company’s proactive approach to addressing potential safety issues with its products. While inconvenient for customers, recalls are essential for preventing potential health risks and maintaining consumer trust in product safety standards.
Customers are encouraged to check their purchases against the recall notices and follow the instructions provided to ensure their safety and well-being.
